GBSC Timeline for HLC Accreditation

October 2006

  • Notify HLC of preferred dates for visit
  • Appoint Self-Study Coordinator (SSC)
  • Appoint HLC Steering Committee (SC)
  • Appoint HLC Subcommittees (Sub)
  • Notify HLC of Self-Study Coordinator
  • Initiate planning of Self-Study process
  • Steering Committee first meeting and develop initial calendar for Self-Study process
  • Convene Grand Kickoff Meeting

November 2006

  • Subcommittees plan how they will address/assess their 2 areas
  • Collect copies of other self-studies and make available to subcommittees
  • Subcommittees gather data
  • Develop an HLC Accreditation section on GBSC website

December 2006

  • Subcommittees continue to collect data, interview and analyze
  • Subcommittees report to the Steering Committee
  • Steering Committee gives feedback to subcommittees

January 2007

  • Group selected to attend HLC convention in March
  • Subcommittees begin to draft initial reports
  • Steering Committee develops list of areas needing further study (as needed)

February 2007

  • Make hotel arrangements for HLC evaluation team
  • Subcommittees respond to Steering Committee with requested information
  • Steering Committee analyzes new information

March 2007

  • Self-study draft chapters are circulated for comment
  • Publish Third-party Comment Notices in newspaper, Revivalist and on Web
  • Self-study draft is placed on the Web for review and comment
  • Steering Committee collects and analyzes comments
  • Subcommittees make necessary revisions

April 2007

  • Steering Committee comments back to Subcommittees
  • Subcommittees make necessary revisions
  • Select proof readers
  • Determine proofing process

May 2007

  • Final check of accommodations for team members
  • Subcommittees finalize work
  • Summer Work Group (SWG) identified
  • Proofreading begins
  • Steering Committee invites people to be available for team visit
  • Develop schedules for site visit including meeting rooms, meals, refreshments

June 2007

  • Convene SWG
  • Proofreading continues
  • Appoint Campus Hostess for the evaluation team visit
  • Prepare for site visit

August 2007

  • Send documents to HLC evaluation team
  • Campus-wide meeting to discuss the team visit
  • Prepare work room for team members

September 2007

  • Host team visit

November 2007

  • GBSC receives draft of Evaluation Team Report
  • GBSC submits any corrections related to errors of fact

December 2007

  • GBSC receives the final Evaluation Team Report
  • GBSC sends response to final Evaluation Team Report to HLC
